Journey into Story (boys, ages 9-13)

1 spot left (8/31/15)

When: Tuesdays, 12:30-3:00 PM* (September 8-December 15, 2015; no class November 24), 3 sessions

Where: Creekside Learning, Bountiful

Who: Boys, ages 9 to 13

Cost: $225/semester ($200 when combined with Young Inventors Workshop)

This class will take boys on a journey into great stories through imaginative writing projects, engaging reading, and theater and radio acting sessions. A small group of lads will together explore the English language, get to know characters from history and mythology, and reenact tales that have stood the test of time.

Class members need to be fluent readers and be willing to try new things. There will be preparation for class required at home each week.

The boys will perform in a fall festival (October 24th) with the other Creekside classes.

Course is partially reimbursable (language arts, elective) through providers like MyTechHigh and Harmony. Check with yours for details.

There will also be approximately two Friday adventures per month where we will take our learning to different places on hikes, field trips, and in workshops. Additional cost on some.

Please fill out the form on the “2015-2016 Classes” page to reserve a spot. Send me an e-mail with any questions!

*12:30-1:00 PM is time set aside for lunch and overlaps with the Young Inventors Workshop. Classtime is from 1:00-3:00 PM.

This class will be divided into three separate sessions that can stand alone. So if only one or two work with your schedule, you do not have to commit for the whole semester. Each session costs $75.

  • Session 1: September 8-September 29 (4 weeks)
  • Session 2: October 6-November 3 (5 weeks)
  • Session 3: November 10-December 15 (5 weeks, no class on Nov. 23)

There are numerous ways to partially offset tuition for committed and dependable parents who would like to get involved–opportunities to mentor classes (short or long-term), prepare materials, payment in kind (needed supplies), assist with variety show production, help with website design and maintenance, etc. E-mail me at for more information.
